Memorandum of Understanding between the Centre for Environmental Law and Community Rights (CELCOR) Inc. and the Mitnande Local Level Government (LLG)

On May 29th, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was successfully signed between the Centre for Environmental Law and Community Rights (CELCOR) Inc.
and the Mitnande LLG, Kundiawa-Gembogl District, Simbu Province. 

The purpose of the MoU was to establish a working relationship between CELCOR and Mitnande LLG to pursue conservation initiatives in the Bismarck Forest Corridor. The agreement will enable CELCOR to provide its expertise and support to Mitnande LLG in drafting local level environmental laws.

The signing Ceremony took place at the Gembogl station, Kundiawa- Gembogl District, Simbu Province. The MoU was signed by the Executive Director of CELCOR, Mr. Peter Bosip and Hon. Peter Gambrame President of Mitnande LLG. The signing ceremony was witnessed by all Mitnande LLG ward members, Kundiawa-Gembogl Deputy District Administrator- Mr. Joe Ulka, and prominent community leaders.

The establishment of a working relationship between CELCOR and Mitnande LLG is essential for its mission, as it will enable both parties to work together to achieve conservation and environmental protection in the Bismarck Forest Corridor. This initiative is part of the USAID Lukautim Graun Program, which aims to assist Local Level Governments along the Bismarck Forest Corridor in developing their conservation and environmental laws.

The Bismarck Forest Corridor is an area known for its rich and unique biodiversity. Under the USAID Lukautim Graun Program, CELCOR partners with Local Level Governments along this corridor to assist develop LLG Conservation and Environmental Laws to protect their natural resources.
