What We Do
CELCOR employs a multi-faceted approach combining legal advocacy, community empowerment, and strategic policy reform to protect Papua New Guinea’s unique ecosystems and customary livelihoods.
Public Interest Environmental Law
We provide critical legal representation and strategic support to rural communities and landowners affected by illegal logging, mining operations, and large-scale industrial projects. Our legal team challenges corporate and state accountability violations in defense of fragile ecosystems.
Customary Land Rights Advocacy
Customary landowners own the vast majority of land in Papua New Guinea. We advocate to ensure indigenous communities retain full control and decisive decision-making power over resource developments affecting their traditional lands and generational livelihoods.
Policy & Legislative Reform
We actively engage with national legislative frameworks, government bodies, and international standards. By conducting thorough policy research, we push for stronger environmental safeguards, transparency, and accountability in national resource management.
Community Legal Education
True protection starts on the ground. We conduct workshops, training sessions, and legal literacy outreach programs across rural provinces to equip grassroots communities with the knowledge needed to understand and defend their legal rights.
Our Commitment to Papua New Guinea
From the highlands of the Waghi Valley to the coastal communities of Manus and East New Britain, CELCOR stands with local populations to ensure that economic development does not come at the cost of environmental degradation or human rights abuses.
